Santa Ema Carmenere(2004)

"Jammy! A bit of tannic bite, but lots of thick fruit and a faint but pleasant finish. We decanted (for the first time ever, in our new carafe courtesy of Cris R.) and found the taste agreeable. We'll never know how it would have tasted straight from the bottle, but it probably would have been fine. Overall a very pleasant surprise, as C. had been afraid of Chilean wines; we tried this one at the personal suggestion of Vinodivino, where we made off with 7 relatively unknown reds at one time.
