Santa Cristina:
Santa Cristina is a popular brand offshoot of Antinori wines, produced in the town of Cortona, in Tuscany, Italy. The wine has been produced in the area (the location of the estate changed in 2006) since 1946. The wines are produced using traditional grapes and styles of red, white and rosé as well as Super Tuscan blends using international grapes. The estate also produces fortified dessert wine, grappa and olive oil.

Very smooth and drinkable after an hour in the decanter. Great nose; good balance.

Fruitier than most Tuscan blends , probably owing to a bit of Syrah in the mix. Some nice tannins and mild acidity make it pleasant to drink, a good wine to enjoy with pasta and red sauce or grilled beef.

Not exactly sure what term to use - the ones I could think of were "thick" or "heavy." This wine was not light in the mouth. Great flavor. It was also well balanced; for as heavy as it was, it went down really smooth and easy. Also, deep dark color. Very nice wine.

I had the 2009 Annata. Very punchy. High volumes of pepper even in the tannis. The smell is very peppery, and the color is semi-purple to red. horizon is wide. This wine would definitely work with a steak or other red meat. Very robust and flavorful. Reminds me a little of jalepenos.

Sehr dunkles purpurrot. Intensiv fruchtig und komplex bereits die Nase, Cassis, Mocca, Kirschen und nobles Holz. Im Mund kräftig, mit sehr schön ausgewogener Struktur, sanften Tanninen und nachhaltigem Finale. Solaia zeigt den unverwechselbaren Charakter der Rebsorten, gleichzeitig aber seine starke toskanische Identität.

Wine Advocate ReviewThe thrilling 2004 Solaia (75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Sangiovese and 5% Cabernet Franc) is clearly one of the highlights of this great vintage. Endowed with massive amounts of concentration as well as structure, it is a big, powerful Solaia that does not sacrifice elegance or balance in its full-bodied personality. Packed with the essence of blackberries, chocolate, tar, smoke, cassis and menthol, this layered beauty exhibits great length and a persistent, warmly alcoholic finish. It has been stunning on the three occasions I have had it so far and is not to be missed. Anticipated maturity: 2011 - 2024.

"The sunny one." A typical SuperTuscan that is still iin its infancy. Marked with intense ripe cassis, black currant and mint, dense tannins and well sustained acidity. Antinori's modern outlook was historically significant. Aerate or decant before serving.
