Santa Barbara Winery Chardonnay 2011
Winemaker's Notes:
All the grapes for this wine were pressed as whole clusters and 56% of the wine fermented in stainless steel without undergoing malolactic fermentation. These two steps lend brightness to the fruit intensity that then integrates with the mouth pleasing weight and supple flavors enhanced by barrel fermentation. Our Santa Barbara County Chardonnay is a good all around choice to satisfy a wide variety of foods. With enough structure to age for five to six years, we think this wine is most enjoyable three years after the vintage year.

Editorial Reviews for Santa Barbara Winery Chardonnay
Creamy on the nose with pineapple and mango fruit underlain with toasty oak and slightly vegetal aromas of roasted parsnips and carrots that add depth and complexity on the nose. Soft and a bit creamy on entry before the acids kick in then this gains energy in the mouth revealing bright green apple, lemon zest and mango fruit flavors that are fresh and fairly pure. The fruit pulls back on the dry finish which shows good focus and snap ending with some wood spice and apple fruit. This is lovely, it has beautiful scale and while it’s a bit fruity for my palate it shows really fine balance. 88pts
