Santa Alvara Red Rapel Valley 2006
Lapostolle was founded by the legendary family behind Grand Marnier. Alexandra Marnier-Lapostolle brought French winemaking practices to Chile, where she was a pioneer in leading the development of fine quality wines. The winery uses organic and biodynamic practices, and the wines are consistently rated 90+ points. Most recently, Wine Enthusiast named Lapostolle “New World Winery of the Year” in 2008.
Nose of melon and pineapple. Great balance of fruit and oak. Very tasty and lingering. -Tasted at The Hostile Grape 8/5/09
good body and the lingering vanilla finish is what i liked the most
Great bargain cab from the Rapel Valley in Chile. Strong hints on the nose and palate of strawberries and other dark berries, cassis and some nice tannins which should ensure the decade age-worthiness the label claims.
Again, an excellent, complex, wonderfully balanced wine. Exquisite! - Tasted at Nora's Wine Bar 1/9/10
Nice, rich oakey. The descriptions above are spot on (WS).
Very nice nose and a fairly long finish. Very good inexpensive cab.

Firm, toasty aromas blend well with cherry and plum notes. The palate is healthy in feel, with good depth and balance. Tastes lightly herbal, but the heavy lifting is handled by black fruit and chocolate flavors. Peppery on the finish and very solid as a whole.
A touch jammy, with sweet red berry fruit and mocha-tinged toast. Briary hint on the finish keeps it honest. Drink now.
This friendly red offers a nice beam of briar, raspberry and blackberry fruit, wrapped with judicious toast on the finish. Drink now.
Juicy layers of raspberry, vanilla and cassis bush are backed by a bouncy, slightly raisined finish. Also contains Carmenegrave;re, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Drink now through 2009.
The 1999 Chardonnay Cuvée Alexandre has a nose reminiscent of a premier cru Meursault with ripe white/yellow fruits intermingled with hazelnuts and minerals. The wine is medium-bodied and possesses excellent concentration. It has outstanding depth to its pear, toast, apple, and anise flavors. Having had the pleasure of tasting older vintages of this wine, and having witnessed their capacity to evolve beautifully, I wouldn't be surprised if this wine would merit an outstanding score in two or three years. Projected maturity: now-2007.
The Marnier-Lapostolle Company of France, together with French oenologist Michel Rolund, is producing first class wine in Chile. This Cabernet from Rapel Valley is made from hand-selected grapes and aged in French oak barrels. Discover this complex and well-balanced wine that brings you the best of both worlds.
Nicely focused, with a racy core of fig, hazelnut and pear notes that stays pure and elegant as the toasty edge remains in the background. The finish is long and juicy. Very stylish.
