Sant Armettu Vin Corse Sartene 2014

Member Review by duncan 906:

I bought this bottle of wine from the website www.terrawines.co.uk for £15.The general 'Vin de Corse' appellation is divided into a number of sub-regions,one of which is Sartene, refering to 16 communes in the south-west corner of the island around the small town of that name.My bottle comes from a small family concern and consists of 60% sciacarellu [a grape native to the island of Corsica],20% niellucciu [another grape some think native to Corsica but others think a variety of the Italian grape sangiovese] 10% syrah and 10% grenache.I started the bottle the other evening with my baked chicken supper. There is plenty of a cherry, plum and blueberry style fruit with some pepper or spice, particularly on the finish. It is full-bodied with soft tannins. In short, this is a lovely wine that would match many foods
