GOLD MEDAL: Concours Mondial des Vins de Bruxelles 2012 For Umberto Cesari, producing great wine is a family tradition with deep roots in this area of Romagna in Italy. It is here that Umberto and his wife Giuliana chose to start their company in 1965 by buying 20 hectares of land in the hills between 200 and 800 metres above sea level. Since then, he has continually expanded and increased the quality of his wines. Today the Company owns 100 hectares divided into distinct vineyards; La Casetta, Parolino, Cà Grande and Laurento, each of which provides the perfect micro-climate for the vines planted. Their Sangiovese wines are full-bodied, beautifully textured with hints of chocolate, vanilla, spice and fine tannins on the finish. Grapes : 85% Sangiovese, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon Region : Italy / Emilia Romagna / Romagna Riserva DOC Maker : Umberto Cesari Notes : Produced from only the best clusters of grapes, this wine has an intense cherry aroma with a touch of violets followed by a full, rich flavour with firm tannins. Serve : At 16C with lasagne, roast red meats, game and mature cheese like Parmigiano Reggiano. ABV : 13% Suitable for Vegetarians
