What to Expect

Viognier is one of the great grapes of France's Rhone Valley. It is an extremely aromatic variety redolent of ripe peaches and wild flowers. It is frequently used to add aromatic complexity to blended wines but on its own, delivers a rich, soft wine with high alcohol and deep flavors of honey, peach, apricot and tangerine.

Reviews

Just like the label said, apricot and peach notes were readily apparent. Medium-full fruit flavour, leaning more to peach than apricot, some grassy/herbaceous infusion. Nice flinty finish. Definitely opened up once it warmed up a degree or two - be patient, wait a short while after removing from your cooler. $29.99 Cdn at liberty wine. A few bucks less and my rating would jump up.

Here, he is dedicated to trials of densely-planted Rhone variety grapes, including Viognier, which he has expanded to a third of his entire vineyard. That is a substantial commitment to the variety, considering that the total planted in the Okanagan is just over 50 acres. Sandhill winemaker Howard Soon made his first vintage of Goltz’s Viognier in 2004, producing only 93 cases. In 2006, he was able to make a comparatively prodigious 279 cases. It is a memorable example of an Okanagan Viognier, read more...
