Sandhill Small Lots Program Syrah Phantom Creek Vineyard 2006

Member Review by zufrieden:

This wine is just shy of 7 years from harvest; but at this juncture, determining the right time to drink serious, age-worthy British Columbia wines is mostly guesswork. This well-reviewed wine (in 2008) has a nose dominated by sour cherry and hints of wet timothy hay. The palate gets more cherry (sweeter), a touch of menthol, diminished tannin and a touch of heat. Much like a Northern Rhone (Crozes-Hermitage) but perhaps with more precision. Can age further, but seems about right now. 89 points.
