Sandeman Porto 10 Year Old Tawny NV

Easy aroma with chocolate and cola notes, a bit nutty. Slightly syrupy body, moderately sweet, nice acidity and body comes from the alcohol.

This is a beautiful 10 year Tawny with attractive, ruby red flecked highlights and a very intense nose of red stone fruit, berries, dried plums and lovely sweet spice. The oxidative winemaking and barrel ageing are expressed in a rich nutty quality enhanced with a mocha note. On palate a beautiful balance of sweet fruit and spice, high alcohol and excellent weight with mouth coating glycerol. The long lingering finish makes it a very complex, well made tawny port - very harmonious and well paired with aged Stilton.

Very rich. Hints of wood slightly masking the underlying tannins. Wonderfully aged.

This was a lot different than I was expecting, but in a good way! I am inexperienced with port, and this one had a nose that suggested it might be a harsh, hard alcohol sort of drink, but it was nothing of the sort. Rich, complex flavor, with plenty of oak, and a wonderful, nutty sort of finish. Not at all what I was expecting and a wonderfully pleasant surprise!

Aromas of caramel, maple syrup and interesting notes of cashew/almond brittle. Dark chocolate toffee. On the palate it's nutty, savory and has a nutmeg note to it. Creme bruleé shell, phyllo dough and honeyed nuttiness of baklava. Dried red berry. Tasty! 90 pts.

Pretty tasty. Nice well rounded mouthfeel and yummy overall. Could drink this all day.
