Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Coconut Rice Sweet Potato Cheesecake

RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.

Having tried another portugal port before, I can say I was a bit excited to try a different version. Colour was darker than ruby, almost garnet but colour means as much to me as a violin bow to a guitarist, just one of those noticeables like when I spell a word wrong. Scent was mostly light, absent, mostly alcohol-y while the taste was woody with a dash of dry fruit. Strong enough to let you know its presence, it's just not my cup of tea (or wine in this case). If you like dry, woody, sweet fruit, then this may be your thing.

Brilliant red ruby in colour, with clean aromas of red fruits, plums and strawberries, Sandeman Ruby Porto has fullrich flavours and is very well balanced. Rich, round, balanced in the mouth, with overt flavours of fresh plums andred fruits.

There are clean aromas of red fruits, plums and strawberries. It is full of rich flavors yet very well balanced. Matches perfectly with creamy cheeses and chocolate desserts.

Winemaker's Notes:

Wine Advocate #150 (Dec 2003) The 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon is an amazing tour de force. Quality like this was rare, if not impossible to obtain in 2000. From bottle, the wine is performing even better than it did from cask. The color is an opaque black/ruby/purple, and the amazing aromatic concoction includes notes of melted licorice, minerals, smoky toast, and blackberry as well as cassis liqueur. Full-bodied, thick, and juicy, it is a voluptuous effort to drink now and over the next 15-16 years. It is a brilliant achievement, surpassed by none, and equaled only by a few other northern California 2000s.
