Salviano Turlo 2005

Editorial Review by Gregory Dal Piaz:

This Umbrian blend combines 50% Sangiovese, 30% Cabernet and 20% Merlot to produce a wine with rich and refined aromas of lightly smoky oak, lightly jammy black fruits, grafite and some violet tones. Sweetly fruited on entry with fine polished tannins and soft acids on a rather sleek, medium bodied frame, this is an elegant introduction to the “Super-Tuscan” style of wine. The spicy finish is a touch drying at this point so this may improve in the bottle but its plummy, tobacco toned fruit is ideal right now for a nice steak, chimichurra would be great, or perhaps some Venison sausage. 87pts
