Salton Pinot Noir Volpi 2011

Editorial Review by Gregory Dal Piaz:

Six months in oak Tea scented and a bit funky on the nose with some sweetness to the vanilla dusted core of red currant, pomegranate and lightly mango toned fruit. This is soft and fruity, plenty of refreshing acidity balanced by a round, slight rs driven simple and pure raspberry/ cherry midpalate. There is a slightly tropical edge more guava than mango to the raspberry fruit on the palate, which seems to be the house style, possibly from yeast selection. With soft tannins and fruit is a little bubble gum like on the backend this is popularly styled though this does firms up on the finish where it shows some forest floor and incipient mushroom notes. 86pts
