Editorial Reviews for Saintsbury Pinot Noir Carneros Toyon Farm
This is light and spicy on the nose, with a touch of alcoholic heat but nice sappy red fruits as well. There’s a touch of leather lurking here and some nice meaty notes. A little unusual in the mouth since this has good body yet until the modest tannins kick in there’s very little mid-palate weight. With time this fills out nicely, straddling the line between a rich, muscular style and something more elegant. The fruit is rich yet not too obvious, with layered black cherry notes and hints of cola and spice. The finish comes off as slightly sweet with lots of cola and baking spice. All-around well-done Pinot in a particular style. 90pts

loads of red fruit with little hints of earthiness. nice acidity with enjoyable delicate qualities, smooth, easy finish. great with my mixed beet salad and turkey dinner.
nose of earthiness and mushroom-like with an underlying of dried sour cherries. the palate also extends to light cherry and raspberry fruit and earth notes, delicate structure, a little fungal but not overpowering
From a single vineyard, Stanly Ranch, this Pinot Noir had aromas of fresh cherries, strawberries, a vibrant, crisp wine, med acidity and tannins, approachable Pinot Noir
Gamey dark black cherries on the nose. Delicate cherry mouthfeel with a medicinal funky edge. Slightly dry sour finish. Lots going on but maybe a little too much distraction.
Light cherry and raspberry nose. Rich and fruity, with a smooth silken mid-palate. Rich, lush flavors of bing cherry and strawberry, with a soft grassiness. Finishes sweet with flavors of chocolate, cedar and herbs.
Blackberry and cherry flavors, smooth finish, gummy and tar sensation.

Marked by spicy anise, dried berry, cedar and mineral flavors that are tight and concentrated, this is medium- to full-bodied, at points dense and concentrated, even chunky, ending with a loamy earth aftertaste. Drink now through 2018. -JL Wine Spectator. A Pinot Noir wine from California in USA. 2009 Saintsbury Pinot Noir Toyon Farm 750ml
Medium cherry-red. Vibrant aromas of crushed cherry and raspberry. Fruity, supple and juicy, with a restrained sweetness to the red fruit and spice flavors. Rich for this bottling, and very easy to drink. Finishes fresh, with a dusting of tannins and good length.
Tight and firm, with intense, focused flavors. An earthy edge gives it a tougher profile. Concentrated and flavorful, but needs time. Best after 1996.
Complex, concentrated black cherry and wild berry flavors are well-focused. More richness and intensity than this bottling typically shows. Drink now through 2006.
Pretty color and a delicate, candied nose. Beautiful gemstone color - darker than a typical Pinot Noir. Lovely balance with the alcohol seamlessly integrated. This will be my top choice for a versatile wine with Thanksgiving fare.

Garnet long has been one of Californiarsquo;s greatest entry-level Pinot Noirs, and it still is. Maybe the best. The rsquo;09 reflects the balanced vintage. Itrsquo;s a dry, silky, light-bodied wine, with pretty raspberry and cola flavors.
