Saintsbury Pinot Noir Anderson Valley Cerise Vineyard 2010
This is light and spicy on the nose, with a touch of alcoholic heat but nice sappy red fruits as well. There’s a touch of leather lurking here and some nice meaty notes. A little unusual in the mouth since this has good body yet until the modest tannins kick in there’s very little mid-palate weight. With time this fills out nicely, straddling the line between a rich, muscular style and something more elegant. The fruit is rich yet not too obvious, with layered black cherry notes and hints of cola and spice. The finish comes off as slightly sweet with lots of cola and baking spice. loads of red fruit with little hints of earthiness. nice acidity with enjoyable delicate qualities, smooth, easy finish. great with my mixed beet salad and turkey dinner.

Gamey dark black cherries on the nose. Delicate cherry mouthfeel with a medicinal funky edge. Slightly dry sour finish. Lots going on but maybe a little too much distraction.
Light cherry and raspberry nose. Rich and fruity, with a smooth silken mid-palate. Rich, lush flavors of bing cherry and strawberry, with a soft grassiness. Finishes sweet with flavors of chocolate, cedar and herbs.

The two Pinot Noirs include the screw cap-finished 2009 Garnet. This is a delightful, fruit-driven, lighter style of Pinot with plenty of cherries and spice as well as a hint of herbs. Simple, medium-bodied, but very satisfying, it should be drunk over the next several years.
Complex, concentrated black cherry and wild berry flavors are well-focused. More richness and intensity than this bottling typically shows. Drink now through 2006.
Fresh, vibrant and snappy, offering crisp dark berry fruit, with spice, mineral and cedar flavors. Full-bodied and persistent. Drink now through 2015.
From Carneros, a region shrouded in a cloak of cool fog, comes an affordable Pinot Noir that would make even the French envious. It offers a lot of bang for the buck. Bright, lively cherry and strawberry flavors are infused into this velvety and extracted Burgundian-like Pinot Noir that finishes silky-smooth. Itrsquo;s as cool as the other side of the pillow.
Good full red. Raspberry, pomegranate, menthol and spicy oak on the nose. Richer, sweeter and more velvety than the Garnet, with deeper flavors of red fruits, minerals and spices. Sound ripe acidity gives this pinot a very pleasing balance. Finishes sweet and long, with lush, fine tannins.
I have always enjoyed Saintsburyrsquo;s lighter-styled, fruity Pinot Noir Garnet. No one does it as well as this estate, and the 2002 Pinot Noir Garnet is a great example of a reasonably priced Pinot that shows off this grapersquo;s varietal character. Made in a fruit-forward, delicious, accessible style, this medium to deep ruby-colored 2002 offers an attractive nose of raspberries, cherries, dried herbs, and cola. Drink this plush offering over the next 1ndash;2 years.
