The Latours have been vintners in Burgundy since the 17th century, slowly building a unique Domaine of 125 acres. Maison Louis Latour currently has the largest Grand Cru property in all of the Cote d’Or with a total of 71.58 acres. The vineyards extend from Chambertin in the north to Chevalier-Montrachet in the south and are solely planted with the two noble grape varieties: Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. All of the grapes from the vineyards we own are vinified and aged in the attractive cuverie of Château Corton Grancey in Aloxe-Corton. The winery was the first purpose-built cuverie in France and remains the oldest still-functioning. A unique rail-way system with elevators allows the entire wine-making process to be achieved by the use of gravity. This eliminates the threat of oxidation from unnecessary pumping of the must. Since 1985, Louis Latour has been selling the wines from its own vineyards under the name Domaine Louis Latour. The Latour family founded the ‘Maison de négoce’, an important shipping company, in 1797, and it is still based at 18 Rue des Tonneliers in Beaune to this day. The company is unique in Burgundy in that it is still family-owned and family-run, having been passed down from father to son for over ten generations. To celebrate our Bicentenary in 1797, we published a commemorative book and were admitted into the exclusive club of the Hénokiens. This club only accepts companies that are leaders in their respective fields, remain family owned, have a history of 200 years’ experience and still bear the name of their founder. There are only approximately 30 of these companies in the world. Maison Louis Latour ships its wines to over 60 countries worldwide. These world-class Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs can be found on the most famous dining tables around the globe. Read less

My first Fleurie. Light red colored with major alcohol scent on the nose. Flavor is quite mild and easy to drink. A hint of sweetness and long finish with a bit of bitterness.

Salmon rosé color - extremely light. Closed nose, with an almost Beaujolais candied red fruit note. Very thin, a little tart. Light body, with red cherries. A pleasant simple quaffer. $16

I found this wine to be a velvety compliment to the sesame seed incrusted tuna I enjoyed it with. It's not a bold wine and it's finish was a tad light at the end but the compliment to the meal was excellent. Very nice nose, looked great in the glass. A wonderful buy for "regular" drinking at around $15 a btl.

Wine Tasting NotesThis wine has a delicate ruby color and an elegantly perfumed wild berry bouquet reminiscent of raspberries, blackberries and black cherries, along with plummy notes. A versatile and easy-drinking wine that will perfectly accompany your summer BBQs, as well as indoors; roast meats (pork, duck, and chicken), terrines and pts, or just a platter of cheeses.

Wine Tasting NotesDeep garnet. Pronounced spicy floral notes can be found on the nose and on tasting we have a wine which is powerful and round yet with balanced tannins. On tasting, fruity flavours of raspberry and spice reveal themselves giving us a wine which should be cellared for a couple of years before reaching its peak.

An intense golden yellow robe and a delicate bouquet of white flower and fruit characterize this wine. It is fresh and refined, expressing as much the roundness of the Chardonnay as the finesse of the Viognier. The alliance creates a good balance.

This terrific new appellation within the Macon region - comparable to Pouilly Fuisse and St Veran, is fortunate in having Maison Louis Latour as its principal producer. Masters of Chardonnay-based wines from Ardeche in southern France to Corton Charlemagne in the north of Burgundy, the Louis Latour team has fashioned one of the great affordable white Burgundies of the last decade: The gorgeous scent of apple, pear and citrus is alone worth the price of admission. On the palate the wine offers an ideal synthesis of sun-drenced fruit, refreshing crisp acidity and lovely hint of minerality.

The wine is well-structured and mineral with delicious notes of fresh almond in the finish.
