Saint Joseph les Granits Chapoutier 91rr 2008
"...reveals smoky gun flint, creme de cassis, black cherry, charcoal and damp earth notes in a round, medium to full-bodied, rich, layered style...91" WA 02/11 "This has a friendly core of blackberry and plum fruit, with tobacco, violet and white pepper notes. A dash of briar keeps this together on the finish...90" WS 11/10 "The 2008 M. Chapoutier St. Joseph Les Granits is also beautifully elegant and deft, with a classy feel and a sheer drinkablity that makes it hard to resist. Showing perfumed aromas of gamey meats, gunpowder, white pepper, and loads of minerality, this medium-bodied St. Joseph is light, fresh, and has beautiful detail, tension, and focus on the palate. It will evolve positively for 3-4 years, and drink well for a decade...91" RR 06/12
The name CHAPOUTIER is present in the Rhône Valley since 1808. In 1879, the distant ancestor Polydor CHAPOUTIER was the first to begin to buy vines, thus moving from the status of wine-grower of an estate to that of a viticulturist, a wine producer and a businessman. The pioneering spirit was already present in the family.
