Needed 1.5 hours decant time (40 min decanter, then back into the bottle for an hour). Paired very well with a Herbs-de-Provence chicken pasta (basil, onion, garlic, thyme, olive oil) and not bad with special Indian dishes (Madras lentils featuring ginger). Wine has strong nose similar in aroma to a port or amaretto and in the mouth spices of cardamom, anise, and a bit of cinnamon that seem to surf forward on smooth, drying tannins and dry smooth fruit. One person remarked the wine had a gingerbread flavor. Medium acid, light-to-medium body, hints of citrus with dark creamy smooth and hard-to-identify dark fruit flavors under the spices. Very unusual.

An organic wine with excellent aromas of exotic flowers, blackberry, cherry, and a unique hint of herbs-de-Provence. The palate is fruity, soft, and velvety with a pure, full finish that ends on a smoky note. A highly rated wine.
