Saint-Amour. Georges Duboeuf 2011
This delightfully named cru is the northernmost outpost of Beaujolais, in the "Saone et Loire" region. It is lively, refined and well-balanced, ruby colored with a bouquet of cherries and spices. Very ripe and ready to drink. Serve slightly chilled with roasted or barbequed chicken. "Here's to the Saint of Love"
This one was a very pleasant surprise. I wasn't expecting it to be so tart and tangy, yet still so satisfying. Light, fruity.
Three and a half glasses
Very enjoyable wine -- a fair bit of sediment, so best to let it sit for a few hours prior to opening. Ruby-rose hue and cherry on the nose. Wonderful balance and prominent notes of fresh raspberries. Red berry and stonefruit finish. A fantastic find in the bargain bin of a local store for $12.99.
