Sabrego Godello Valdeorras 2012

External Review by Premium Wine & Spirits:

A joint project of importer Eric Solomon and Rafael Palacios, the 2012 Sabrego (100% Godello) is a lighter-weight Godello than those I tasted from importer Jorge Ordonez. Made from vines planted in decomposed granitic soils, tank-fermented, and aged on its lees for 3–4 months, it is an elegant white offering notes of wet stones, crisp grapefruit and green apple skins, light to medium body, and a refreshing, dry, mineral-laced style. It should be consumed over the next year.

Bright yellow. Complex, perfumed bouquet evokes ripe pear and melon, along with floral and mineral nuances. Picks up a smoky quality with air and offers deep, smoky orchard fruit and lemon pith flavors. Closes creamy and long, with a jolt of tangy acidity that adds clarity and lift.
