Champagne is usually, but not always, a blended wine that generally includes Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and occasionally Pinot Muenier. In the blend each component contributes certain characteristics: Chardonnay adds finesse and a bright elegance, Pinot Noir adds richness and depth of fruit while small additions of Pinot Muenier add earthy complexities.

The 1996 Blanc de Noirs is a classic champagne with a seamless balance of fruit and acid. A mouthful of luscious blackberry and cassis have been woven into a wine of uncommon richness, toastiness and creaminess. The very full and rounded palate displays a lovely complex character derived from 42 months in contact with the autolyzing yeast. The finish is long, complete and satisfying. The 1996 Blanc de Noirs' rich youthful flavors, beautiful color and shower of pinpoint bubbles will charm any palate.
