Tasting Notes: The 2004 tasting offers a real depth, splendid red fruits, blackcurrant and blackberries aromas, lightly woody. AWC Vienna 2006 : Seal Gilbert & Gaillard 2008 Guide : 85 / 100. Percentage Grape: 66% Merlot , 22% Cabernet-Sauvignon , 12% Cabernet-franc. Soil: for the half surface on the southern slopes, gravely-clay soils above chalky sub-soil. Second part of the vineyard covers plateau areas with lighter soil on gravely sub soil. Growing Climate: It is located in the village of Haux, half at the top of limestone cliffs over-looking the Garonne river and half on the beginning of the plateau de l'Entre Deux Mers ; 8,5 ha planted with red vines et 1,1 with white vines AOC Premières Côtes de Bordeaux. Type of Harvest: harvested by hand, several picking owing the ripe level.The grapes in little cases are selected again on a sorting-table.From September the 17th, picking of Merlot spots on the top areas around the mansion. End of harvest on October 19th. In spring, normal flowering, late Veraison. During summer slow ripeness ended in hot and sunny September and October. Vinification Length: The 2004 vintage Identity A cool beginning of winter, ended with hot sunny days. A dry period during spring and a fresh Summer . The vineyard and the fruits has grown without diseases thanks to healthy conditions. The yield control with green harvest has been the guarantee of quality in 2004, when the vineyard was over-weighted with big grapes. Vinification Method: after the selection table, harvest is crushed. In concrete tank, 3 weeks maceration, starting cold, and 2 weeks controlled at 29°. Malolactic fermentation in cask for a third. Aging Time: 16 months in oak barrels, new for a half.
