California's Napa Valley has been a source of world-class Cabernet Sauvignon for well over a century. Its warm climate and varied terrain allows for many styles of wine. One thread that runs through almost all the Cabernet based wines from Napa is their lush, ripe full-bodied feel and rich flavors of currant and berry. Wines from the valley floor, particularly around Rutherford, are famed for a dusty quality and those coming from the hillsides surrounding the valley, Mt. Veeder, Diamond Mountain and Howell Mountain for example, tend to be a little leaner with more obvious structural elements.

WE 91pts. - Winemaker Notes - Lush and intense, this complex wine shows layers of blackberry, cherry, anise, mint and nutmeg. It s well-balanced with firm but integrated tannins and a long aftertaste that offers depth and nuances. Aged in French Oak barrels for two years. Age worthy for 8-10 years. Only 2,500 cases produced.

Winemaker Notes - Our Reserve opens with a subtle punch of spring cherry bloom with a whisper of smoke. The taste begins with a blend of mocha, black tea, ripe Bing cherry, blackberry and rhubarb. The smooth velvety tannins compliment the full fruit intensity from initial taste through the finish.

One of the great values in California Cabernet Sauvignon (believe me, there are not many of them), this 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon, a blend of 84% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Merlot, Syrah, and Cabernet Franc, exhibits a deep ruby color as well as a sweet nose of red and black currants, spice box, and cedar. Richly fruity, with silky tannin, and a lush finish, this is the perfect Cabernet for restaurants to sell by the glass. Drink it over the next 2-3 years. - Wine Advocate
