Rutherford Ranch Merlot 2004
"White Wine Chardonnay by Rutherford Ranch from Napa Valley, California. This classic, Napa Valley Chardonnay is elegantly balanced. Layered scents of apple, tangerine and citrus punctuated by hints of French oak lend to a long, spicy finish. Serve chilled with your favorite seafood. Alcohol: 13.0% by volume ... "
Rutherford Wine Company is family owned and managed with a portfolio of wines representing the rich diversity of California’s outstanding appellations. Uncompromising and ecologically far-sighted viticulture is an ethical imperative for us. Though more labor intensive than prevalent commercial winegrowing methods, our efforts are rewarded with fruit rich in flavor and character. And great fruit is a prerequisite for making great wine.
peppery, dry, oak finish
at first I didn't like it. maybe it just needed to open up more. but then when I moved to having it with food, it really seemed like a great pairing (with lamb), and then after dinner I had more and it was delicious: spicy, but warm spicy, like cinnamon… A very reliable Merlot to go to with a nice dinner.
Ok - kind of tangy like many 'new' wines.... might be better if it sat a few more years.
This is a great Merlot. It is full of body. For the price it is an amazing value. I joined their wine club when I visited the winery. Definetly worth trying.
Nice chocolate aroma in the neck - tight tannins. Needs to open up about a hour before drinking, and still needs years of aging.
Really enjoy this wine, one of my more favorites
This is a light wine; I picked it up before watching Interiors. I tasted it with Sterling and decided to stick with the later for the movie.

Flavors of dark cherries and chocolate abound in this soft and fleshy, balanced Merlot. The finish is silky and lingering with a hint of vanilla, cinnamon and tobacco.
The Wine NEws ReviewRated 90Cedary scents of blackberry, cherry soda, coffee bean and black tea. Concentrated, brambly flavors of mixed berries, cherry and pencil shavings. Lingering finish heightened by mocha notes.Wine Tasting NotesDark cherries, rich chocolate and a hint of oaky sweetness abound in this merlot. For anyone who doesnt know this grape, a glass could be a mind-altering event. A stellar example of why Rutherford Hill is King of the Merlot world. Sufficient easy charms to work on its own as an aperitif; enough going on to complement a long list of edibles. More uses than a Swiss Army knife and much easier to operate. Enjoy!
