This is a pretty classic nose full of nuanced dill, eucalyptus and tomato leaf aromas over a base of black currant fruit framed with a nice note of fresh oak with a hint of caramel. Nicely light and fresh in the mouth, this could use a bit more acidity, though the fruit flavors recall tart red raspberry and wild blackberry which helps with the balance. A touch of sweetness also serves to give the impression that this might be softer than it actually is, but the flavors are classic California Cabernet, fresh with hints of herbs, wood spice, and vanilla all presented in a fresh, medium bodied package. This wine is a winner and is a sure fire crowd pleaser for Cabernet drinkers out there. 88pts

A touch of dusty earth, perhaps even stemmy on the nose, which also shows red currant fruit, well measured vanilla and lightly toasted spices and a touch of toasted almond and dry fruit. Medium bodied and fairly bright on entry, this blends some riper flavors of dried fruit and prune with light caramel edges and layers it all over red currant and cherry fruit. There are nice spice and vanilla accents showing on the mid palate that add complexity but don’t overpower the fruit, leading to a slightly tannic but palate-freshening finish thats pretty long with lingering, slightly spicy black cherry flavors and lightly chewy fruit tannins. With air, a subtle herbal note emerges on the palate as well. Love the way this feels in the mouth, though the flavors are just a touch riper than a very solid value. 88pts

Rutherford Ranch is my monthly case wine. It is an exceptional value at $14.99. (case price at 13.50 each) The wine opens with the scent of terroir- earthiness and an abundance of fruit primarily bing cherries and a little bit of blackberries and blueberries and touches of cedar. Nicely balanced in it's acidity and the flavors linger and last making you want another glass. This is a great Cabernet to pair with steaks and lamb, especially ones with a bit of fat as it will bring out the flavor of the steaks. Great drinking wine just by itself for an everyday wine. Compares to some of the wines in the upper $20's range. However when you does not have the complexities and robustness of wines in the high $20's up to the $50 range.

Deep ruby in colour, rims turning garnet. Quite intense though youthful nose of blackcurrant, blackberry, liquorice and smoke. Medium acidity, high tannin and full body, medium intensity of palate in vanilla, blackberry, black cherries and oak of medium length. Acceptable quality and ready to drink but can develop further.

Flavors of dark berries, plums, and a hint of earth are noticeable in the very good wine. This wine matched well with a truffle oil and herbs seasoned steak. Good wine for the price.

I like it, not too light or too heavy. Good berry taste. Pants thinks it tastes like a rubber band.

Also a superb value, the 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon (82% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Merlot, Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, and Petit Verdot) exhibits a dark ruby/purple-tinged color, a classic bouquet of black currants, white chocolate, and subtle herb as well as oak notes, plush, succulent flavors, sweet tannin, and a luscious texture. Drink it over the next 4ndash;5 years.

As ripe as they come, with lush, mouthfilling flavors of blackberry pie, cherry tart, chocolate and vanilla cream. Fortunately therersquo;s a wealth of dusty tannins and good acidity for balance. Finishes dry, although the fruit is so ripe, itrsquo;s almost sweet.

This simple cabernet has the richness of chocolate cake, its dark, baked-fruit flavors masked behind equally dark oak. A soft red for roast beef.

One of the great values in California Cabernet Sauvignon (believe me, there are not many of them), this 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon, a blend of 84% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Merlot, Syrah, and Cabernet Franc, exhibits a deep ruby color as well as a sweet nose of red and black currants, spice box, and cedar. Richly fruity, with silky tannin, and a lush finish, this is the perfect Cabernet for restaurants to sell by the glass. Drink it over the next 2ndash;3 years.

A little sharp, but easily the wineryrsquo;s best non-vineyard designated Cab since the rsquo;02. Shows a ripeness level that slam dunks cherries, blackberries, cola and oak onto the palate, yet maintains an elegant dryness.

The 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon reveals soft berry fruit along with hints of mint and cedar. It is an elegant, medium-bodied, nicely constructed Cabernet meant for consumption over the next 1ndash;2 years.

Elevated in its tannic structure, and the way the oak plays with the ripe fruit. The flavors of blackberries, black currants and sweet smoky cedar lead to a rich, spicy finish. Very nice Napa Cabernet at this price.
