What to Expect

Merlot has gotten a bad rap as of late but there is no denying the wine's appeal. Packed with deep, dark berry fruit and nuanced hints of cocoa, herb and earth with a soft structure. Its velvety texture makes Merlot instantly appealing and an obvious alternative to similar, more tannic Bordeaux varieties.

Winemakers Notes

Brick Red color. Cherry, chocolate, anise, soy, clove, cocoa aromas. Round, smooth tannins, with flavors of cherries and plums and hints of anise, cocoa and clove.

Editorial Reviews

Well-balanced aromas of freshly sawn wood, vanilla, crushed berries and juniper give this a woodsy nose. This has the rich attack and ultra smooth feel that many people look for in Merlot. The wood is well integrated on the palate adding only chocolate and mocha notes to the rich black plum fruit. There’s a bit of spice on the back end and into the finish, which is on the shorter side. Fruity and easy drinking 88pts

Reviews

Americans suddenly seem to realize what people along the Mediterranean Coast have known for centuries: rose can be every bit as compelling as red or white wine, if it's made the right way. For Rutherford Hill, that means using 100% Napa Valley fruit and striving for balance and complexity - the common denominators for all great wines. Enjoy with grilled fish, chicken, salads or as an aperitif. Color: Light ruby Aroma: Cherry, plum and ginger Taste: Strawberry, raspberry, cherry with a hint of spice

Beautiful cherry and leather flavors. Soft vanilla notes. Eucalyptus and mineral flavors in the mouth. Finishes on cherry and blackberry. Beautiful

Rich and fruity nose of strawberry, violets and candied fruits. Warm fruits flavors in the mouth, even a little toffee. This is a very fruity wine, almost chewy on the finish with hints of licorice. Nice.
