I want to introduce you to a new wine, Rusina, from the heart of the Alexander and Dry Creek Valleys in Northern California’s Sonoma County.
Rusina is my family’s creation and is inspired by my past twenty years as winemaker and grape grower throughout California. I’ve had the opportunity to work with large and small wineries throughout the great winegrowing regions of California and can tell you without a doubt that great wines always begin in the vineyards. Every year I walk thousands of acres of vineyards that are the source of many of California's great wines. These exquisite sites, often undiscovered by most winemakers, form the core of Rusina wines. When you find theses gems, their expression leaps out of the glass and the wines seem to make themselves.
The Alexander and Dry Creek Valleys are some of those most desired areas and are home to some of the state’s oldest plantings of zinfandel, cultivated and nourished by generations of family farmers dedicated to the simple task of farming for quality. The joy in creating these wines is that it serves as an example of how the vineyard character elevates itself and touches so many palates in compelling ways.
