What to Expect

Merlot has gotten a bad rap as of late but there is no denying the wine's appeal. Packed with deep, dark berry fruit and nuanced hints of cocoa, herb and earth with a soft structure. Its velvety texture makes Merlot instantly appealing and an obvious alternative to similar, more tannic Bordeaux varieties.

Winemakers Notes

Ripe, rich fruit impressions interspersed with nuances of cassis, blueberry and forest floor notes which follow through on the palate. Well rounded with abundant youthful tannins.

Reviews

According to the back label, the blend of this wine is 51% merlot to 49% cabernet sauvignon. Usually when a wine has at least 50% merlot I feel like it overtakes the other grapes in the blend, but that isn't the case here at all. The nose is pretty robust with a great deal of berry fruit and hints of earth with just a touch of a spicy character. Medium body with silky tannins and a nice touch of acidity. The balance between components of the wine is really nice. Great flavors in this wine. I definitely recommend giving this wine a try.
