Ruinart Champagne Blend Champagne Brut 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

Wonderful golden color with traditional yeast and dough aroma with a hint of florals. Great body to the wine with softer than expected acidity but great doughy flavors and excellent finish.

R de Ruinart Champagne, as with all Ruinart champagnes, is made with a high proportion of Chardonnay giving great finesse and elegance that's so characteristic of Ruinart champagnes, but the addition of 60% Pinot Noir gives this wine a full bodied, supple and smooth quality."\n"\n"The House of Ruinart was established as long ago as 1729 by Nicolas Ruinart - creating the first Champagne House."\n"\n"Presented in an elegant 18th century style bottle, this champagne reveals such a fresh, distinctive, rose petal pink colour."\n"\n"Vintage: N/V"\n"\n"Grapes: 40% Chardonnay from the Côtes de Blancs and 60% Pinot Noir from the Montagne de Reims"\n"\n"Origin: Champagne, France"\n"\n"Notes: A yellow colour with golden glints and a crystal-like brilliance. Fine bubbles that rise in an airy, long-lasting line. On the nose the wine is delicate and fresh. White-fleshed fruit (pear), dried fruits (almond). Scents of white flowers (acacia). Aromas of fresh butter & Viennese pastries"\n"\n"Taste: The palate is perfectly balanced and fresh with an extremely long finish."\n"\n"Serve: Excellent on its own as an aperitif or ideal for an all-champagne meal. Also perfect with delicate dishes such as pan-fried scallops or sole meuniere."\n"\n"ABV: 12.5%

Vintage: 1998 11/04/2014

Rich, toasty, mature, this important Champagne is all those things. Its certainly mature for a 1998 vintage, which means it would be delicious to drink now. But the ripeness, allied to the serious acidity and wood structure, do suggest that its likely to age more. R.V. - Wine Enthusiast Magazine 95 PointsThe 1998 Dom Ruinart Brut Vintage is simply gorgeous. This taut, focused Champagne is currently quite shut down and appears to be holding back much of its potential. Still, the wine possesses plenty of density in its ripe Chardonnay fruit, smoke and minerals, with a long, subtle finish. All this wine needs is time in bottle. If past vintages are any indication, the 1998 should age beautifully. Readers who enjoy fresh wines will find plenty to admire in this wine now, but those who enjoy Champagnes with a little age on them will want to wait a few years before enjoying this fine effort. This is Lot: AEE2AD, disgorged July, 2007. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2018. - Robert Parker 92 PointsSilky in texture, this Champagne also has a racy structure driving its grapefruit, ginger, bread dough and apple flavors. It's balanced in the tart side, with a lemony finish. Drink now through 2020. BS - Wine Spectator Magazine 89 Points
