Ein fruchtiger, goldener Champagner, der nur so vor Lebenslust sprüht. Im Glas braust der Ruinart Champagner 'R' tüchtig auf und der Schaum wird durch feine Perlen lebendig gehalten. Es ist ein wunderschönes Gelb - goldene Reflexe geben der Farbe Brillanz. Frisch und fruchtig ist das Bukett mit Noten von Früchten weißen Fruchtfleisches. Im Vordergrund erkennen wir deutlich einige Birnen, dahinter Spuren von Trockenfrüchten, besonders Haselnüsse und Mandeln. Es folgen Aromen weißer Blüten wie Akazie, Weißdorn, Buschrose. Zu dem verlockend intensiven Geruch gesellen sich laktisch-nussige Nuancen, ein Hauch Bioches und etwas leichthin Butteriges. Am Gaumen wiederholt sich die Lebendigkeit. Insgesamt ist der 'R' ein ausgeglichener, runder und körperreicher Markenchampagner mit dominanten Aromen von Renekloden (grüne Pfläumchen) und weißem Pfirsich.

Still, the wine possesses plenty of density in its ripe Chardonnay fruit, smoke and minerals, with a long, subtle finish. All this wine needs is time in bottle. If past vintages are any indication, the 1998 should age beautifully. Readers who enjoy fresh wines will find plenty to admire in this wine now, but those who enjoy Champagnes with a little age on them will want to wait a few years before enjoying this fine effort.

Rich, toasty, mature, this important Champagne is all those things. It's certainly mature for a 1998 vintage, which means it would be delicious to drink now.
