- Bright ruby red in color. The bouquet is elegant, fragrant and inviting. The intense fruity notes, typical for Sangiovese intertwine with spicy sweet notes derived from the Merlot. The oak ageing adds complexity and length to the aromas with delicious hints of walnuts, tobacco and cassis. On the palate, Il Ducale is refreshingly fruity yet elegant. It is medium bodied, with mellow tannins and has a lovely balance of ripe fruit and acidity. Flavors are intense and lingering, characterized by hints of blueberries, raspberries and cocoa. Il Ducale is a modern, Tuscan wine born from Ruffino's century old winemaking tradition.
