Ruffino Fonte Al Sole 2011

Winemaker's Notes:

“Aroma: intense and vinous with pleasant fruity notes, in particular of cherry and red berries, well integrated with the lightly spicy hints from the oak creating a truly inviting impact on the nose…..Good Structure; very harmonic. The typical fruity notes from the Sangiovese are underlined by the softness of the Merlot. The aftertaste is velvety and fruity, very well in line with the bouquet.”- Winemaker

Fonte al Sole is produces on Ruffino's Poggio Casciano Estate and is 100% Sangiovese. Widely recognized as one of the finest grapes in the world, Sangiovese is also the base for the finest Chianti's and Chianti Classico's. Fonte al Sole is a medium-bodied wine with a fragrant bouquet of berries and black olives. It carries a pleasing balance of fruit and soft tannins, that gives this wine its grace. Fonte al Sole can be chilled slightly for those warm summer nights, and it goes well with antipasti, light meats, and even seafood.

This medium-bodied, ruby red Sangiovese from Tuscany offers a pleasing balance of berry fruit, fresh acidity and soft tannins which are characteristic of the Sangiovese grape. Fonte al Sole is enjoyable with a wide range of foods.

Rather light yet good. A simple red, with plenty of cherry character. Serve slightly chilled. Drink now.

Light and crisp in body, this wine shows cherry and strawberry in a fresh, clean style. A slight hint of Tuscan leather in the finish.

100% Sangiovese gives this wine structure and grace.FOOD MATCH: Sweet Sangiovese fruit and crisp acidity make it a winning companion with a red osso buco.
