External Review:

Colour: Ruby red with garnet hues.Aroma: An intense impact with powerful notes of cherry, plum and violet opens a bouquet that then fades into neat aromas of tobacco, chocolate, cinnamon and spicy hints of black pepper. Great complexity in the overall bouquet, neat expressions of the authentic Sangiovese and Chianti Classico aromas.Tasting profile: Full-bodied, very powerful in its fruity notes, with elegant tannins perfectly supported by a good acidity. The finish is characterized by pleasant sensations of sweet tobacco. The aftertaste is particularly long and shows powerful notes of plums and lighter aromas of clove.

The wine is a lovely garnet hue in the glass with ruby along the edges, and great clarity. The nose is classic Chianti, with lovely aromas of blackberry, cherry and some floral aromas of violet and a hint of spice. The taste is quite nice, fruit forward with lots of cherry, plum and a bit of spice, maybe a bit of cumin. The flavors easily transition to some lovely dark chocolate and mocha notes midpalate. The tannins are nicely integrated, lending support for a long, smooth dry finish that lingers as if to tempt you into another sip. The nose showed dark, spicy red fruits with hints of mint and floral undergrowth. On the palate, it was tight and densely packed with flavors of cherry, minerals and floral tones. The finish showed the wine’s structure as it turned lean and drying. I would put this in the cellar for another three to four years before tasting again.

Colour: Ruby red with garnet hues Aroma: A very classic Chianti Classico bouquet with notes of violets, cherries, plums and inviting spicy sensations. It is elegant and lush, inviting yet subtle, featuring all the distinctive characters of a great Chianti Classico. Tasting profile: Full bodied, with a generous, fruity core, where the notes of cherries and small berry fruits intertwine with sensations of Mediterranean herbs, such as rosemary and thyme, and hints of oak. The alcohol is well-integrated in the structure and the tannins are impressive, yet round and soft. The aftertaste is very long and reminiscent of violets, nutmeg, plums and sweet tobacco.

This special commemorative bottle celebrates the 60th anniversary (1947-2007) of one of Italy's flagship wines. The characteristic aromas of Sangiovese come through loud and clear in the form of bright pulses of wild berry, blue flower, light spice and dried tobacco. The wine is bright and tight on the finish. Hold this bottle in your cellar. - M.L. This has an almost roasted nose, and offers dark plum, leather, chocolate and earth flavors. Rich and powerful, yet stays focused, with fine balance and a lingering finish. Best from 2013 through 2022. 33,300 cases made. -BS The 2007 Chianti Classico Riserva Ducale Oro is a big, rich wine. Tobacco, cedar, spices dried flowers and dried cherries are all woven together nicely in the 2007. There is plenty of depth and richness in the glass, but aromas and flavors are already a touch forward, which suggests the 2007 isn't going to be especially long-lived. Still, the 2007 comes across as slightly less overwrough...
