I picked up this bottle to give my wife a taste of Chianti before our trip to Italy this summer. It is a nice simple wine to have with dessert and I enjoyed it - her? not so much.
External Reviews for Ruffino Chianti Classico Riserva Ducale
Lean but polished, with a narrow band of flavors. Picks up on the finish enough to suggest it might be best after 1995.
Blueberry and mineral aromas, with hints of new wood. Full-bodied, with silky tannins and a rich core of raspberry fruit and lemony acidity. Best after 2009.
Two years of oak aging produces a full-flavored Chianti Classico with flavors and aromas of red plum, cherry skin, new saddle leather and damp earth. With its easily recognized tan label, this Chianti Classico will please even the most discriminating Italian wine lovers.
Full-bodied, very powerful in the fruity tastes, with tannins that are elegant and well linked to a good acidity. The final is characterized by pleasant sensations of sweet tobacco. The aftertaste is particularly long and shows powerful notes of plums and
Light in color and texture, this high toned Chianti offers mature chestnut and coffee scents. Decant a bottle for fuzi with veal.

Winemaker's Notes:
Wine Tasting Notes Ruby red with garnet hues. The bouquet is typical for Chianti Classico wines with inviting floral and fruity notes intertwining with the spicy touch deriving from the long ageing period in oak barrels. Notes of plums and cherries are followed by hints of sweet tobacco and cocoa, creating an elegant and long-lasting bouquet. The taste is very well-balanced and features all the virtues of oak aged Sangiovese. The tannins are sweet and velvety, the acidity is inviting and fragrant and the fruity notes lead towards a long, delicious aftertaste of berry fruits and cassis. Elegant and medium-bodied, the palate is characterised by sweet notes of mature fruit which blend beautifully with the soft tannins and the acidity. The after-taste is typical for Sangiovese with hints of hazelnuts and leather.
