What to Expect

Sangiovese's claim to fame is its role as the heart of Chianti, Brunello and many Super Tuscan wines though it is gaining ground as a varietal wine around the globe. When grown in a suitable location the grape's soft tannins, succulent acidity and moderately intense cherry and herb flavors make Sangiovese very easy to drink as well as supremely versatile at the dinner table.

Winemakers Notes

Aziano is a Tuscan wine which perfectly merges the traditional values of the Chianti Classico territory with the advantages of modern winemaking technology. The grapes used for the production of Aziano are cultivated in the heart of the Chianti Classico area. Its character and fragrant aromas are enhanced through a temperature-controlled fermentation process in stainless steel tanks and a traditional ageing in large Slovenian and French oak barrels.

Reviews

I am newer to Chiantis, but tried the Ruffino on a recommendation. Hints of dark fruits, with a woody finish. Flavors are muddled and indistinct. Not a lot of body to this wine, with an unpleasantly tart and acid lingering.

Wine Tasting NotesRuby red in color. Notes of sweet violet, red berries, and Morello cherries with slightly spicy undertones. The finish reveals hints of rosemary and tobacco. The taste is well balanced with very pleasing fruit notes accompanied by sweet spices and pepper with a hint of aromatic wood. The aftertaste is long, smooth, and velvety.
