User Reviews for Ruffino Chianti
Add your reviewThis wine has a very refined bouquet. At the nose this wine has a very wild notes; somewhat like wild flowers. The fruity hint of plums goes well with the medium spicy finish. It is an easy wine to drink with a defined aftertaste.
The 2008 Ruffino Chianti was a bright, but deep ruby. On the nose, there were cedar, ripe cherry, and black pepper aromas, followed by the slightest hint of violets. In the mouth, there were big, Bing cherry flavors, followed by black pepper, rose petals, and tobacco. The Chianti had a high acidity, low tannins, and a light-to-medium body. This wine is very drinkable, which is why it usually makes it into my jug/daily wine stash. This wine isn't as acidic as most sangiovese, nor does it have much tannic bite. A nice inexpensive red for those in the "i don't like reds" crowd. A light colored body and a fruity plum taste lands in my Wednesday night is pizza night club. -Drink it in!
I bought this to have with pappa al pomodoro (a tomato and peasant bread soup). The peppery-ness and intensity matched the food nicely.
an unsurprising chainti; soft cherry and vanilla notes on the nose with a light-bodied, subtly fruity mouthfeel.
