Ruffino Chianti Classico Aziano 2012 is a blend of a minimum of 80% Sangiovese plus Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon that is fermented in stainless steel and aged for 9 months in stainless steel and concrete vats. A ruby in color, this Tuscan red offers vibrant and inviting aromas of sweet violet, red berries, wild cherries, spice and herbs on the nose. The wine is a bright ruby color in the glass with great clarity and somewhat lighter body which is typical of Chianti. The nose exhibits notes of green herbs and tart cherries with light undertones of leather and tar. The taste is very fruit forward with notes of raspberries and plum with bright acidity that transitions to some tart cherry midpalate. The finish is quite nice, with some well structured tannins supporting a smooth dry finish that lingers. Notes of bright cherry with layers of chocolate, spice, and leather. Very nice for the price (under 15$). Drink with a chicken parm or a vegetable stew.
