Ruffino 'Aziano' Chianti Classico 2016

Member Review by Cassandra Rosen:

Notes of bright cherry with layers of chocolate, spice, and leather. Very nice for the price (under 15$). Drink with a chicken parm or a vegetable tomato stew.

The wine is a bright ruby color in the glass with great clarity and somewhat lighter body which is typical of Chianti. The nose exhibits notes of green herbs and tart cherries with light undertones of leather and tar. The taste is very fruit forward with notes of raspberries and plum with bright acidity that transitions to some tart cherry midpalate. The finish is quite nice, with some well structured tannins supporting a smooth dry finish that lingers. Nice little chianti. Nothing special but decent flavors of ripe cherry, medium tannin, some spice and good acidity. Plays well with spicy italian food.

Very much like drinking young green cab. Quite tannic with few redeeming qualities. Perhaps with age .................

This wine has a very refined bouquet. At the nose this wine has a very wild notes; somewhat like wild flowers. The fruity hint of plums goes well with the medium spicy finish. It is an easy wine to drink with a defined aftertaste.

Cherry and currant flavors strike a winning chord in this well-proportioned, well-balanced Chianti that puts its focus squarely on the fruit. Also shows a nice touch of chocolate and spice on the finish, adding to its appeal.
