Rudolf Müller Riesling Eiswein 2004
A honey flavored ice wine. This wine literally drips from the tongue like poetry dipped in clover honey. It was almost too sweet to be enjoyable. Very good, but in small amounts.
This was, admittedly, the first real icewine I have had, as opposed to imitations made from grapes frozen after harvest. It definitely is more complex and interesting than the faux stuff. Quite sweet of course, but not cloying. The sweetness is nicely offset by an acidic bite and a faintly musty, rich hint of raisins and oak. I had it lightly chilled with some mild white gouda, and it was very enjoyable.
Rich mouth filling wine with aromas of apricot, peach, and honey. Excellent wine with fruit based desserts or as an after dinner drink instead of dessert.
