Royal Oporto Vintage 2007

External Review:

Weingut: Real Companhia VelhaRegion: DouroRebsorte: 25% Touriga Nacional, 25% Touriga Franca, 25% Tinta Roriz, 25% Tinto BarrocaInhalt: 0,75 lAlkoholgehalt: 13,5 Vol.%Säuregehalt: 5,25 g/lRestsüße: 2,5 g/lFassreife: in Barriques gereiftLagerfähigkeit: 5-7 Jahre ab Jahrgangempfohlene Serviertemperatur: 16-18 °C Suche nach Rebsorten > Rote Rebsorten > Tinta Barroca

With the Roman occupation, grape-growing underwent a large scale expansion-excavations carried out on the left bank of the River Tua cleary confirm the development and prosperity that the vine brought to the Douro Region. The first known written reference to the name "Port Wine" applied to the Douro wine exported from the Oporto customs house dates from the end of 1678. Between 1680 and 1715, the expansion and growth of exports was remarkable, having increased from 800 to 8.000 barrels and reaching the expressive figure of 19.000 barrels in 1749. A great contribution to this increase was made by the mercantile spirit revealed by English merchants of the period settled in the city of Oporto. Read less

Vintage Port is considered the best port you can drink, but waiting for it to mature can be a challenge. Here's a lush, sweet vintage port that's ready to enjoy. Aged 2 years in barrels and then bottled unfiltered, decant it off the sediment and serve it with a rich dessert or a wheel of Stilton. Or if you prefer, cellar it and let it continue to improve for another 10 years.

Good dark color, with intense blackberry, light raisin and cherry aromas. Full-bodied, medium-sweet, with very good grip. Long, long finish. Best Royal Oporto in years. Best after 2004.

Where else are you going to find a fully developed Port from a classic vintage at this price? Decant it this winter, pour a glass and watch the snow fall.

Deep ruby with ripe fruit aromas, this vintage Port if full-bodied, with raspberry flavors, balanced tannins and a long finish. From the incredible 1994 vintage, this represents an awesome value as well as an inspired drinking experience.

Well balanced with good body, opens up deep chocolate anise flavors leaving cherry and vanilla on the finish. Perfect for a late night by the fire with a good book and a Macanudo Maduro.

Once a byword for indifferent Ports, Royal Oporto has totally revamped its winemaking, and this 2003 vintage is the result. It is dark and dry, with layers of firm fruit. Flavors of black figs give a lift to the Port.
