Route du Van Viognier Chardonnay

External Review by Great Wines Direct:

Route du Van was developed when Tod Dexter, a fiftysomething winemaker from the Mornington Peninsula, and his wine pro chums Ian and David Bird, inspired when watching the Tour de France as it passed through the Rhone Valley, decided to create something with a bit of fun, piled into van and toured some wineries back home in Victoria. Apeing the European wine routes, they picked up some viognier and chardonnay from the Strathbogie Ranges, some dolcetto from the King Valley and some good Goulburn Valley shiraz. As the concept suggests, Route du Van wines are definitely European in style – and very very drinkable. Grapes : Viognier 90%, Chardonnay 10% Region : Australia / Victoria Notes : Fresh citrus floral, nice lingering flavour – steely, clean, spicy. Hints of minerals and stone fruit. Serve : Nicely chilled with Fresh Fish, Poultry and white meat dishes. ABV : 13.50%
