Roussanne 2003

Winemaker's Notes:

So you don’t like white wine? Try the refreshing complexity of Roussanne. full-bodied, rich, yet fresh and interesting, Roussanne has fast become one of our favorites. Originally from the Rhone valley of France, ours comes from one of the most pedigreed growers in the Russian River Valley. Its skin is actually a russet that turns ruddy before the harvest. Its golden nectar is gently released in the press before going directly into French oak barrels for 14 months. This layering of flavors: honeysuckle, apricot, pear, toasty baguette and hints of crème bruleé, make Roussanne and interesting wine to pair with a variety of foods or enjoy a glass - or three - just ‘cause.

In fact, we often select the vineyard before deciding on what kind of wine to make. We have connected with some amazing winegrowers. We respect the winegrower’s efforts in cultivating extraordinary vines as the greater part of what turns out when you pour a glass. Patrick views his winemaking often like midwifery – waiting and letting nature run its course while helping make sure the end result is as pure and beautiful as intended. Read less
