Food Pairings for Rosenblum Zinfandel Maggie's Reserve Sonoma Valley
The nose was hedonistic with dark spices, graham cracker crust, blueberries, black cherry and a lovely floral note that kept it tied to reality. On the palate, it showed a medium body with sweet and sour cranberry, cherry and cinnamon ushered in by brisk acidity. As spicy and sweet as it seemed, there’s something about this wine that kept me going back for another sip. The finish was leaner than expected with tart red fruits and lingering spice notes.
External Reviews for Rosenblum Zinfandel Maggie's Reserve Sonoma Valley
One of Rosenblum’s top tier Zinfandels, the fruit for Maggie’s Reserve comes from a stunning single vineyard that rests on a sloping plain in mid-Sonoma Valley. The vineyard is planted to Zinfandel and Petite Sirah, dry-farmed, and planted at the turn of the 20th century. Hot days and moderately cool nights during the growing season mark the climate in this region and promote low yields of one to two tons per acre. The 100+-year-old vines in this vineyard add a special intensity that shows itself as luscious black raspberry jam punctuated with rich black cherry spice, vanilla, hints of menthol and dark chocolate.
