Rosenblum Rockpile Zin 2009
Our Rockpile Zinfandel opens with plum and cherry aromas on the nose, cradled by warm molasses and caramel notes. Black fruit leads the big, full palate, accentuated by a pop of boysenberry and red currants on the finish. Substantial, mouthfilling tannins structure the finish and hold the flavors into a long, lingering finale. Loaded with character, this finely crafted Zinfandel can be savored on its own or served with a rich Italian meal or your next barbecue soirée.

92% Zinfandel, 8% Petite Sirah
Wow, very fruity on the introduction to the palate--blackberyy, prune. Also fairly sweet. Sweetness might be exacerbated by the alcohol because I can taste that, also. Not the style of Zinfandel that I particularly like. A high-dollar "Apothic." US$34.19 at Total Wine. 8/17/13 AMENDMENT. When I finished off this bottle, the next day, my first-day impressions were confirmed, This is not a very good wine.
Big zin from the Rockpile Road Vineyard in northern sonoma. Loads of dark fruit, spice, a hint of tar and a touch of dark chocolate. I don't get the sweetness others have written about, just a big, but well balanced, zin.
Had the 2007...amazing. Peppery, full mouth feel, lingering. Powerful, incredible. Want more soon.
Big fruit hit on the tip of the tongue--blackberry, mostly. It seems like it wants to got towards that overripe, jammy style that I see in a lot of low-dollar Zins, but, fortunately, does not really go there.Something of a annoying alcohol taste around the edges of the tongue, but, again, that subsides. Very long finish. US$31.99 at Total Wine in 2012.
Amazing. Hard to come by, but if you can get a bottle it is always delicious. I drank this bottle with some 70% dark chocolate pieces and it was pretty phenomenal. Winemaker's details on the wine say it better than I can.
