There is a pleasant blackberry hint on introduction to the palate, but nothing obnoxious. Then, I, sadly, detect over the top on the alcohol. Then there is a serious hit of tannin—with which I am very OK. After about 40 minutes of air, components seem a bit more integrated, but I still don’t think it’s enough. Now, it’s tasting more jammy.

Here is a gorgeous single vineyard Zinfandel from Rosenblum. The Harris Kratka Vineyard in Alexander Valley is planted with half-century-old head-pruned vines of Zinfandel, Petite Sirah and Carignan. Seeing the potential, Rosenblum blends 78% Zin with 12% Petite Sirah and 10% Carignan for this lush but elegant wine. The extremely low yield fruit brings concentration and complexity while the relatively cool climate keeps the acidity lively for beautiful balance. Aged in French and American oak barrels in a cutting edge program that incorporates 55 different coopers this wine is remarkably soft and supple with black cherry, blackberry and brown spice. On SALE! This item excluded from any other discounts or offers beyond the 15% case discount.

Soft and velvety with nice acid structure makes this a perfect Zinfandel for the cellar or pair now with rosemary grilled lamb or marinated salmon from the BBQ.

Winemaker's Notes:

Wine Spectator Review Rated 90 Ripe and briary, this is jammed with intense flavors. Aromas of blackberry jam and toasty sage lead to concentrated plum, licorice and white pepper flavors. Tannins firm up the finish. Best from 2011 through 2014. Wine Tasting Notes Soft, velvety with voluptuous dark cherries is the theme for this exotic Zinfandel produced from southern Alexander valley fruit. The rolling hills cool nights and combination of Carignane and Petite Sirah in the blend has created a wine with elegance and power at the same time. Due to the good acid structure this wine is a candidate for your cellar and would pair nicely with rosemary grilled lamb or marinated salmon from the BBQ.
