Rosemount Estate Shiraz Rosemount Road Upper Hunter Valley 2006

Winemaker's Notes:

On the lighter side for Shiraz. Open-textured, with pretty plum and currant flavors, lingering softly on the finish. Drink now through 2010.

I like my Shiraz more fruity, this has more spice than I like. Still drinkable.

I judge an Australian Shiraz by how much it tastes like Australia. In short, how much eucalyptus and parched rock I can taste. In some of the mainline factory brands, there's little more than traces of sun-warmed stone, and young oak, but Australia comes on strong in Rosemount. A refreshing wine for the flu season, winter, cold, damp weather it's very soothing and drying.

I particularly didn't care for this bottle. I am a huge Shiraz fan, especially those grown in Australia. This Rosemount had a buttery nose, but didn't translate that well into tasting. Not as dry as I'd hope from an Australian Shiraz, and the berries seemed too tart. Not terrible...but not great.

Rosemount's "Diamond Label" Shiraz is one of Australia's most successful exports - and with good reason. Year after year, winemaker Philip Shaw delivers a smooth, silky wine with delicious fruit and spice flavors.

Farbe: junges Rotviolett. Im Bouquet Pfeffer, Pflaumen, schwarze Kirschen und Himbeeren, reicher Auftakt, pfeffrig, würzig, weiche und runde Tannine. Langer weicher Abschluss.
