Rosemount Estate Shiraz Rosemount Road Upper Hunter Valley 2006
Rosemount Estate's vision began in the Hunter Valley region of Australia. Though much has changed at the estate over the years, the original commitment to quality has remained pivotal to the success of the now world-famous winery that is Rosemount Estate.
I like my Shiraz more fruity, this has more spice than I like. Still drinkable.
I judge an Australian Shiraz by how much it tastes like Australia. In short, how much eucalyptus and parched rock I can taste. In some of the mainline factory brands, there's little more than traces of sun-warmed stone, and young oak, but Australia comes on strong in Rosemount. A refreshing wine for the flu season, winter, cold, damp weather it's very soothing and drying.

I particularly didn't care for this bottle. I am a huge Shiraz fan, especially those grown in Australia. This Rosemount had a buttery nose, but didn't translate that well into tasting. Not as dry as I'd hope from an Australian Shiraz, and the berries seemed too tart. Not terrible...but not great.
