Rosemount Estate Shiraz Mclaren Vale 2015

Member Review by chriscage:

This wine is a deep purple color with cranberry hues around the edges....nice clarity as well and some bubbly goodness maintained around the edges of the liquid. Smells that remind me of blackberry, cassis, hints of cranberry, Earthy muttled spice, and woodsy chocolate. Flavors that are chocolatey, heavy berry and subtle tartness of cranberry, pomegranite and sour cherry. Mouthfeel is of fresh fruit juice texture, slightly effervescent at the back of the throat and easily drinkable! A nice mid range Shiraz!

Spicy. Fruity. Sweet. Balanced. Smooth.

It was a full bodied, generous wine. I have not the palate to describe it as experts do, but I definately liked it more than most reds, and plan to stock several cases.

At $6 this is a gem of a bottle. I haven't had a better bottle Shiraz anywhere near this price range. I would say buy at anything >$15 but definitely under $10. Paired well with grilled chicken and beef stew (separate meals.)

This is Everyman's Shiraz, made to appeal to the masses - and appeal it does with bouncy mixed fruit, medium body and judicious oak. The nose, too, will reel the crowds in, with its jammy grape and raspberry fruit.

The nose is richly aromatic, with fine coconutty oak over warm spicy licorice and brambly berry fruit. Flavors are dominated by well-defined ripe fruit that is soft, with generous, rounded tannins that hold to a long rich finish, echoing toasty notes of American oak.

Filled with bright, bouncy cherry-berry fruit and imbued with a slightly viscous mouthfeel, this fun, gulpable Shiraz won't break the bank. Its easygoing nature makes it worth having on hand for your next barbecue.

A noteworthy value, the dark ruby-colored 2002 Shiraz exhibits blackberry, earthy, and floral notes. Medium-bodied, with admirable stuffing, and no hard edges, it will drink well for 2-3 years.

Ripe, rich and intense, packed with a solid core of plum, prune and black cherry flavors wrapped in warm, spicy, vanilla-scented oak notes. A complex red wine that's balanced to drink now.

On the lighter side for Shiraz. Open-textured, with pretty plum and currant flavors, lingering softly on the finish. Drink now through 2010.

A refreshing style, playing its ripe blackberry and licorice flavors on a medium frame. The finish lingers. Drink now.
