Rosemount Estate Red Rhone Blend Mclaren Vale Gsm 2003

Member Review by Ruski:

Enjoyed this on 10 March, 2012. In cellar for 5 years. Raspberry and oaky vanilla on the nose. Taste develops into a real fruit bomb with red berries, leather and some sweetness to it (reminding of some amarones). A very lively wine despite its age. Tasted it in parallel with another GSM - Le Moulin Teyroud Chateauneuf-du-Pape 2005. At first both wines are pretty similar, but the CdP has more finess, is better balanced and in comparison the Rosemount feels like it is "all over the place" with its berry-fruity characters. All in all a very interesting tasting comparison of an aussie and a french wine with the same grapes and close to same price category. France wins over Australia 1-0 this time. :)

Rosemount Estates:
Rosemount Estate's vision began in the Hunter Valley region of Australia. Though much has changed at the estate over the years, the original commitment to quality has remained pivotal to the success of the now world-famous winery that is Rosemount Estate.

Spicy and earthy grenache leads the charge, backed up with complimentary syrah characteristics. A really nice wine.
