Roscato:
Roscato Rosso Dolce is a blush wine produced in the Moscato d’Asti style, with residual sugars giving it an off-dry finish. Instead of the Moscato (Muscat Blanc) grape, it is produced with the red Italian Trentino-Alto Adige grapes Teroldego, Lagrein, and Croatina. This sparkling “blush” wine has been popularized at Olive Garden restaurants, but is also available from select retailers.

This wine has a sweet taste and is similar to Moscato. It doesn't leave a bad after-taste at all. I tried it on a whim, only purchased one bottle while I was visiting the South...Wow, I should have purchased more, I can't find it in the North.

After a tasting, I bought a bottle of this super sweet red. This wine has a good flavor and a lovely color in the glass. A bit too sweet for the middle-of-the-road wine drinker, however considering it is produced for the Olive Garden, this is not surprising. If cut with a bit of brut or tonic water, this would be a delightful treat on a summer night.

Roscato is a collection of irresistible, delicately sweet, frizzante wines from the northern Italian region of Lombardy. Made from a blend of Pinot Noir, Croatina and Teroldego, Roscato Rose Dolce makes a wonderful aperitif and is also incredibly food-friendly. Roscato seamlessly combines a long-held grape growing tradition with the flair of modern winemaking techniques and style. The result is a wine of enticing character that perfectly meets the surging demand for sweet, slightly sparkling wines. With a low alcohol of 8% and a touch of sparkle to flawlessly balance the sweetness, Roscato is the ideal complement for today’s cuisine. Enjoy it with white meats, classic Italian dishes, spicy foods and more. Production Area Trentino and Lombardy, Italy. Vineyards in the Valdadige and Oltrepò area in the province of Pavia. Grape Varieties Pinot Noir, Croatina and Teroldego. Vinification Each variety is harvested and vinified separately, allowing the grapes to reach perfect ripeness. Following de-stemming, the must is macerated with the skins allowing it to retain maximum fragrance. The must is kept at a low temperature until fermentation, at which point the two varieties are blended together. When the wine has reached an alcohol content of 8%, fermentation is interrupted by lowering temperature to approximately 32°F leaving a high level of natural residual sugar. The three grape varieties are harvested separately as they ripen at different times; the grapes are vinified using the method for making white wine with the skins being separated immediately after pressing; brief contact with the skins during this stage allows for extraction of some color pigments, which impart the typical rosé color. The grape must is chilled until all three varieties are ready to be fermented; it is at this stage that the blend is formed. Fermentation is halted naturally by lowering the temperature to near 32°F when the alcohol content reaches 8.0 percent by volume. This retains a substantial amount of natural residual sugar. Color A creamy white foam with persistent tiny bubbles. Bright rose color with ruby red reflections. Bouquet Delicate aromas of red berries and cotton candy. Taste Lusciously sweet with a primary red fruit flavors yet refreshing with a lingering finish. Alcohol 8% Serving Suggestions Highly versatile. A great aperitif and equally splendid with richly flavored foods and desserts. Enjoy well chilled.

Northern Italy provides a spectacular backdrop for Roscato, a violet-hued red with aromatic notes of cherry, blackberry and red raspberry. A touch of sweetness and bright acidity underlies the appeal of this charming wine. The traditional winemaking style for this fruit-forward red compliments regional "heart and soul" cuisine such as bruschetta, calamari, pasta in red and cream sauces, breaded cutlets and spicier fare. Enjoy chilled. - Winery
