What to Expect

Barbera is one of the classic Grapes of Italy's Piedmont region, though it is popular throughout much of Northwest Italy and has gained a following in California. Searing acidity has been a trait of Barbera though modern viticultural techniques and warmer regions have tamed the acidity, resulting in medium-bodied wines with bright, red fruit tones that feature hints of violets, earth and plum with just a whisper of tannin.

Winemakers Notes

Just a touch of neutral oak. Palate cleansing acidity with that touch of Italian juicy, mouthwatering tartness that enhances any meal. 13.7% alcohol and zippy with full ripeness - one of our most traditional wines with good reason.

I had the 2006 vintage. nose of warm french toast with baked raspberries and vodka. The palate is a mouthwatering, sensual cran-raspberry cocktail with awesome tart acidity. There is no much raspberry in this wine that I had to pick my teeth of the imaginary seeds.

Since Barbera is a notorious pizza wine I had this with a Digiorno Ultimate Pizzeria pizza and it did not disappoint.
