Roots Melon de Bourgogne Yamhill-Carlton Deux Vert Vineyard 2008

Winemaker's Notes:

Melon is the exclusive grape of Muscadet, and it is extremely rare to find it grown anywhere outside of France. Lean and focused, yet rich and mouth filling, this wine is layered with spices and minerals. Its finish is savory and briny, which makes it perfect with fresh oysters. No malo. 80% neutral oak, 20% stainless steel. 97 cases.

This wine might make a great wine if blended 50-50 with a flabbier flavorful white in need of acid and zest. Here, the balance favors the acid. Nose of musty round creamy lemon. On the attack has sharp greenish metallic acid which increases through the finish. Mid-palate tastes of lemon and grassy fruit, finishes of wood and metal. Dry. Body light to medium, acid high.
