User Reviews for Root 1 Carmenere
Add your reviewCarmenere is a fun new discovery for me. I have always taken a liking to root:1 cabernet (it's fabulous for the low-key occasions, and the bottle itself is gorgeous!) and carmenere doesn't fall short of this either. Root:1 Carmenere is a fabulous low-priced wine with a medium body and soft tannins. Its appearance seems to settle into a dark ruby, crimson color. The nose is fabulous with a noticeable earthiness and dark berry aromas. On the palate I discovered a definite earthy, perhaps even slightly dusty note, with a hint of black cherry, distinct plum and definite berry notes. The Root:1 Carmenere has a lovely finish and is the perfect wine for any relaxing occasion!
Sweet fruit provides a welcoming start while tannins keep the finish fro getting coying.

Bright ruby. Fresh red berries and cherry on the nose, with a smoky licorice note gaining strength with air. A gently sweet midweight that offers fresh raspberry and bitter cherry flavors and a kick of zesty acidity. Finishes slightly rigid but with good tangy persistence.
Dill and toasted vanilla mix with lightly crisp red and black cherry fruit. Stays slightly firm, with the dill hint lingering on the finish. Drink now.
Fairly warm and syrupy on the nose, with bits of earth, leather and baked plum. The palate is a touch underdeveloped and herbal in terms of flavor, but there's no shortage of size. Plump and chewy but basic on the finish, with a returning set of herbal berry flavors that could use more coaching.
Winemaker's Notes:
Wine Tasting Notes Deep red in color with gentle and silky tannins and rich flavors of ripe plum, blackberry, vanilla and spice. FOOD PAIRINGS Root: 1 Carmenere pairs well with pasta, vegetable soup, spicy entrees or grilled meats such as beef, lamb or pork. Its unique character makes it the perfect wine to pair with ingredients that are traditionally difficult to match such as garlic, bell peppers, fresh herbs and eggplant.
